Disable Downloads from FTP
Lets extend our knowledge on Sunday also. As tomorrow I won’t be posting any technical tips.
Now you have configured a FTP server (vsftpd) on your RHEL or Linux Server. Those who are familiar with the FTP behavior knows that by default the FTP (read vsftpd) allows all downloads. Remember your RHCE Training.
Of course, that is the reason we have FTP in our Company.
But in case you don’t want to enable downloads from your FTP server. Your employees are just allowed to upload the files, not download them.
How can you do that?
Simple just use – download_enable=NO
in the /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf file
Once its done, the users were not allowed to download the files. A simple illustration is shown here from my machine.
