Collecting Installation logs on Log Server

GEEKS .. here goes the “Tip of the Day”. You all have done Linux Installation during your RHCE Training or RHCSS Training.

Suppose you are installing a new machine and you want the installation logs to be collected on your enterprise centralized “log server”.

This tip requires that you should have a “log server” configured for accepting remote logs. (that is something you need to do yourself)

On the new machines just pass the kernel argument “linux syslog=ip-of-log-server:514” and now if you check the /var/log/messages file on the log server. You will be getting updates about the installation process on new machine.

Here is a illustrated example.
