Wget limit bandwidth

So lets continue with the wget options. As we know that wget can be used to download files etc over the wire.

Now lets suppose you are downloading a huge file using wget. By default when you run wget, it will try to eat up all the bandwidth available. This might leads to malnutrition to other applications using the bandwidth. And is certainly not a acceptable scenario over production servers.

So the solution is, always limit the bandwidth that can be used by the wget using –limit-rate option.

Here is a illustrated example of using wget with –limit-rate option as executed on my machine.
